Justin Lane featured on Culture Trips – 7 Great Day Trips To Take From Brisbane
“Burleigh Heads – One of south-east Queensland’s trendiest suburbs of 2017, Burleigh Heads is not to be missed. A little further south than the glitz of Surfers Paradise, Burleigh has a more relaxed, creative vibe. It’s filled with the hippest restaurants, a selection of boutique shops and of course, stunning Burleigh Heads beach. It’s here where the ‘cool crowd’ hang, whether they’re sipping Aperol spritz at Justin Lane Rooftop, taking a surf in the popular Burleigh Heads break or gazing out to the ocean while enjoying a modern Asian meal at the ultra hip Rick Shores. It’s not all fine dining in Burleigh, we head out to Justin Lane for midweek pizza and find it a bustling joint with noticeably good-looking staff. It looks as though it’s grown a life of it’s own, taking over several shopfronts, an old arcade and rooftop terrace drawn together with cool white interiors accented with brass lights and swinging bulbs and the unpretentious tagline of “eat, drink & be messy”. The rooftop bar is a must-visit, with a great cocktail list and views overlooking Burleigh. Our ‘love & lemons’ cocktail was a perfectly balanced combination of vanilla vodka, limoncello and prosecco – the ideal sundowner for hot summer days.

Justin Lane’s evolution has echoed Burleigh’s burgeoning food culture.
Adam Haralampou started the venture in 2011 and since then has expanded into a one-stop shop.
“We’re predominantly a pizzeria but now we’re a venue that caters to all demographics,” he says.
“We’re unique because we cater to the function market, the drinking market with the rooftop bar, the restaurant and the takeaway and delivery market. But really we’re just a fun place to go out to eat and drink.”
The introduction of takeaway and delivery was especially significant as it delighted locals who wanted Justin’s pizzas but didn’t want to get dressed up. It also meant the volume of food orders outgrew the kitchen, which also required an expansion.
The significant expansion of Justin Lane has been no accident, with Adam originally selecting the now iconic spot as he envisioned its expansion potential.
“I had my heart set on that site – it was something I saw I could grow into and keep expanding,” he says.
“In 2011 it was pretty much just Tropicana on the corner, Fishmongers and a Chinese restaurant – that was it really. Over past five years there’s been an explosion of bars and restaurants in Burleigh.”
As he spoke Adam’s phone rang continuously as renowned Gold Coast restaurateur Simon Gloftis called.
“He’s one of my best mates and he’s done a lot for Burleigh as well with The Fish House,” Adam says.
“It was a big thing not just for Burleigh but the entire Gold Coast. It’s a great thing to be able to bounce ideas off each other, especially when we’re both so passionate.”
Justin Lane Establishment Has Been Featured In The Australian Gourmet Traveller 2017 Guide
Since re-launching late last year with a stellar makeover and rooftop bar and patio, Justin Lane Establishment has been rocking our world and we’re not afraid to say so! You’ll fall hard for Justin’s undeniable style, killer cocktails (go for the Justin Coladas—bliss!), and delicious home-made pastas and sourdough pizzas. Without question one of the best bars on the Gold Coast, this is where the beautiful people head for Sunday sessions in the sunshine.

Here is a soothing, Italian balm to cure all nonsense and deliver you unto the purest dining pleasure. Feel like a carbloader? You need Justin’s pasta. Not keen on cutlery? Hands are the only way to tackle one of Justin’s glorious pizzas. Dinner with the fam? Get the whole roasted chicken. Whatever your needs, Justin’s got you covered, and his rooftop is the perfect place to enjoy it. He won’t force you to sip on a crisp rosé and look out over the beach at dusk but, you know, it’s there if you want it.
One word: pizza. Well, okay, there’s more to Justin Lane than pizza, but our eyes see what they choose to see. In all seriousness, this beach-themed rooftop sports gorgeous views to Burleigh Beach that will make you forget all about Monday. The rooftop menu includes plenty of antipasto delights, but also offers rooftop patrons access to their full menu on Sundays from 12-4pm. Sip a cocktail (or beer), enjoy the view and do not miss out on the pizza. Their pork and fennel meatball, chili, caramelized onion and provolone pizza has us drooling at our desks at the thought.
The ever popular pizzeria/pasta bar buzzes as loudly as it ever did, but the wait for a table is far more convivial with the new addition of a rooftop dining and drinking space. With views stretching over Burleigh beach to the distant high-rises of Surfers, it’s the perfect spot for a sunset aperitif and an appetite-whetting snack, from a simple caprese to an antipasto plate to share. Downstairs, it’s business as usual with a selection of charry crusted wood-fired pizza and rustic pasta dishes; from spaghetti with prawn, fennel, chilli and lemon to ribbons of pappardelle sauced with rich wagyu Bolognese.
